Ocean Jasper is a rare orbicular chalcedony variety, uniquely sourced from Madagascar. Mined along the secluded northwestern coast during low tide, it is celebrated for its vivid natural colors—greens, pinks, and creams—and distinctive concentric orb patterns.

Technically a type of chalcedony quartz, its unique "bullseye" or orbicular patterns are created by spherulites (small radiating fibrous crystals) trapped within quartz. It often exhibits banding or tiny sparkling cavities known as druzy.

While the mineral was first noted in a French encyclopedia in 1922, its exact mining location was lost for decades. It was finally rediscovered in 1999. Most of the original veins have been depleted, though new deposits have periodically appeared.
